Association of British
Drivers
Text Taken from the newsletter of "Steer" ( http://www.steer-tar.org.uk/ ) April 2000:
The ABD is the motoring equivalent of the Countryside Alliance. Their 16,000 members vigorously defend what they see as their right to drive on the road network, without undue restrictions. They regard speed restrictions as a major infringement of motorists? freedom. Individual drivers, they say, should decide the speed limit at which they travel, according to conditions. Their web site (www.abd.org.uk) contains pages of material on speed, including detailed advice on how to object to local authority speed limit orders. Letters from their members to local papers complaining about speed restrictions are easily identifiable from the misinformation found on their web [site]. "Good article researching the ABD's mis-use of statistics linking speeding and accidents: http://www.fonant.co.uk/wcc/cuttings/2001-03-19-A1.html |
